My man got ordained as a minister in the PCA last night and it was the sweetest service ever. I’m so thankful for these people and SO PROUD of you, Hayden Dale!!! You’re the best decision I ever made. 🥰

This piece started as play… with layers of petals and neon gouache paint strokes… and became one of my favorites. A lot of times that’s how it goes - when I’m creating just for the sake of fun, and not the result, I tend to love the outcome. Painting is my play - what is yours?

Today, craft glitter became my muse. Do I feel a little weird about adhering a MASSIVE amount of standard grade craft glitter to one of my paintings? Yes and no. And I feel like some people will not enjoy this one little bit. But I also think others will say “if that glitter excites you, you go ahead and bathe in it.” I couldn’t dig this more.

Lately I have been letting myself paint whatever I want. (Unless I’m working on commissions of course 🥴) Decidedly not following trends. Not trying to be particularly abstract or particularly representational. Not stressing about the idiosyncrasies of my color palette as much. Just experimenting. Not absolutely torturing myself about reaching some “purest” form of authenticity and uniqueness. (Any other artists out there feel me?!) I mean truly is there ANYTHING new under the sun?! I just want to paint because it helps me. Gives me life. It makes me more of a human. And don’t we all need a freaking break?! I mean we are ONLY HUMAN, after all. ( @jonmclaughlin ) ...and yet, profoundly so, we are human; you know, with those eternal souls... transcendence woven into the ephemeral... I mean that got real, quick. I guess in the end, I only hope that some of that transcendence sneaks into my art. I’d consider that success.

HOLIDAY COMMISSIONS! I knowwww... Pumpkin Spice just made its appearance and it’s still ninety degrees outside - but it’s time to start thinking about CHRISTMAS GIFTS! 🙃 I am opening only EIGHT commission spots for the coming months (Sept. - mid Dec.)
